The Role, Benefits & Usage of Ice Therapy Machines in Post-Surgical Rehabilitation
Post-surgical rehabilitation plays a crucial role in aiding patients' recovery and restoring their functionality after undergoing surgical procedures. One of the key components of effective rehabilitation is the use of ice therapy machines.
These innovative devices provide targeted cooling and pain relief, promoting healing and reducing inflammation. However, purchasing an ice therapy machine can pose huge expenses to an individual. Thus, one must rent an ice therapy machine in Denver in order to leverage the benefits in a cost-efficient way.
In this article, we will explore the role of ice therapy machines in post-surgical rehabilitation and discuss their benefits, usage, and considerations.
Tumblr media
Understanding Post-Surgical Rehabilitation
Post-surgical rehabilitation is a comprehensive process that involves therapeutic interventions to help patients regain strength, mobility, and functionality following a surgical procedure. It aims to minimize pain, accelerate healing, prevent complications, and restore patients' quality of life. Rehabilitation programs are often tailored to specific surgical procedures and individual needs, incorporating various techniques and modalities to facilitate recovery.
The Importance of Ice Therapy in Recovery
Ice therapy, also known as cryotherapy, is widely recognized as an effective method for reducing pain and inflammation. By applying cold temperatures to the affected area, ice therapy helps constrict blood vessels, decrease swelling, and numb pain receptors. This natural approach to pain relief is particularly beneficial in post-surgical rehabilitation, as it complements other therapeutic interventions and supports the healing process.
How Ice Therapy Machines Work
Ice therapy machines are specialized devices designed to deliver controlled cooling to the surgical site. These machines consist of a unit with a built-in reservoir, a pump, and a pad or wrap that is applied directly to the affected area. The machine circulates chilled water or ice through the pad, ensuring consistent and targeted cooling. The temperature and duration of therapy can be adjusted based on the patient's needs and the healthcare professional's recommendations.
Benefits of Ice Therapy Machines
Ice therapy machines offer several benefits for post-surgical rehabilitation. So, check out the benefits before you want to rent an ice therapy machine in Denver:
Pain Relief:
Ice therapy helps alleviate pain by numbing the affected area and reducing nerve activity. This allows patients to manage pain more effectively without relying solely on medication.
Inflammation Reduction:
Cold temperatures help reduce inflammation by constricting blood vessels and limiting the release of inflammatory mediators. This can minimize swelling and promote faster healing.
Improved Circulation:
Ice therapy can enhance blood flow by constricting blood vessels temporarily and promoting subsequent vasodilation. Improved circulation delivers essential nutrients and oxygen to the surgical site, aiding the healing process.
Accelerated Healing:
By reducing inflammation and promoting blood flow, ice therapy machines can contribute to faster tissue repair and overall healing, potentially shortening the recovery time.
Non-Invasive and Drug-Free :
Ice therapy machines offer a non-invasive and drug-free approach to pain management and rehabilitation, reducing the reliance on medications and their potential side effects.
Choosing the Right Ice Therapy Machine
When you want to rent an ice therapy machine in Denver for post-surgical rehabilitation, it's essential to consider several factors:
Size and Portability:
Choose a machine that suits your specific needs and is easy to transport if required.
Temperature Control:
Look for machines that allow precise temperature control to ensure safe and effective therapy.
Comfort and Fit:
Opt for a machine with adjustable wraps or pads to ensure proper fit and maximum comfort during therapy sessions.
Durability and Maintenance:
Consider the durability and ease of maintenance of the machine to ensure long-term reliability.
Best Practices for Using Ice Therapy Machines
To maximize the benefits of ice therapy machines during post-surgical rehabilitation, it is important to follow these best practices:
Consult with a Healthcare Professional:
Seek guidance from your healthcare provider to determine the appropriate timing, duration, and frequency of ice therapy sessions.
Follow the Instructions:
Carefully read and follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer for the safe and effective use of the ice therapy machine.
Monitor the Skin:
Regularly check the skin for any signs of irritation or discomfort during and after therapy sessions. If any issues arise, consult your healthcare provider.
Maintain Hygiene:
Keep the machine and wraps clean and sanitized to prevent the risk of infection.
Combine with Other Therapies:
Ice therapy machines can be used in conjunction with other rehabilitation techniques, such as physical therapy exercises, to optimize the recovery process.
Precautions and Considerations
While ice therapy machines are generally safe and well-tolerated, there are a few precautions and considerations to keep in mind. Below are some of the significant precautions to check before you decide to rent an ice therapy machine in Denver:
Temperature Sensitivity:
Some individuals may be more sensitive to extremely cold temperatures. If you experience excessive discomfort or skin irritation, consult your healthcare provider.
Allergies or Skin Conditions:
If you have any known allergies or skin conditions, consult your healthcare provider before using an ice therapy machine to ensure it is safe for you.
Limited Use in Certain Cases:
In some cases, such as specific surgical procedures or medical conditions, ice therapy may not be recommended. Always consult your healthcare provider for personalized advice.
Integrating Ice Therapy Machines into Rehabilitation Programs
Ice therapy machines can be seamlessly integrated into post-surgical rehabilitation programs to enhance outcomes. Healthcare professionals and physical therapists may incorporate ice therapy as part of a comprehensive treatment plan, using it alongside other modalities to optimize recovery and improve patient satisfaction.
Future Developments in Ice Therapy Machines
The field of ice therapy machines continues to evolve, with ongoing advancements in technology and design. Innovations such as improved temperature control, enhanced portability, and smarter user interfaces are being developed, promising even more effective and convenient post-surgical rehabilitation experiences in the future.
Conclusion
Ice therapy machines have revolutionized post-surgical rehabilitation by providing targeted cooling and pain relief. Their benefits in reducing inflammation, promoting healing, and improving overall recovery make them a valuable addition to rehabilitation programs.
You can buy or rent an ice therapy machine in Denver to leverage its benefits. By integrating ice therapy machines into post-surgical care, healthcare professionals can enhance patient outcomes and facilitate a smoother recovery process.

Through Me (The Flood) - secret baby fic Simon Riley / female reader - 18+ mdni - sappy smut
Tumblr media
“Wow.”
Simon sets both bags on the floor, forgetting them in favor of sealing himself around you, arms around your waist. “Do you like it?”
“Yeah. I’ve never been here before. Didn’t realize it was so pretty.” The ocean is turquoise, a sparkling blue green reflecting the sun’s midday peak. His lips graze your cheek, and you giggle. “I still can’t believe we’re on holiday.”
“You deserve it.” You turn in his arms, nose to his neck.
“You think Orion is okay?” He rubs your back, trying to soothe your worries. You’d been a little apprehensive when he originally mentioned going on a quick getaway, nervous about leaving the baby, but Gaz and Cami insisted they were up to the task, and he finally coaxed you out the door.
It was much needed. You were bone weary, and with the team set to leave again in another week or two, he was desperate to get some quality, alone time.
Logistically, it took a lot. You’d need to pump this entire time to keep your supply up, not to mention you’re still adjusting to your new medication for POTS. Simon had to do extensive work to ensure the security of this town, evaluating each rental and placing endless phone calls, painstakingly combing through each one until he found something perfect.
“Orion is fine. Gaz and Cami have it all under control, you know that. We’ll FaceTime with him tonight, okay?” You nod, still burrowed against him. When you finally pull away, it’s with a coy smile.
“Can we go to the beach?”
Simon leads your past Porthcurno beach with a promise of something better, a secluded craggy cove he knows will have almost no one on it. You gasp when it comes into view, more brilliantly blue water meeting white sand, framed with dark cliffs. As he suspected, only a few other people dot the beach. It requires some effort, a steep descent on uneven ground, but he holds you steady, keeping your hand on his shoulder as he leads. If you slip, you’ll only fall right into him, cushioned at his back instead of the sharp rocks.
“Oh my god…” you trail off, dropping your backpack in the sand. “Simon this is… it's perfect.” He laughs. It’s so easy with you. To laugh. To smile. He’s never felt lighter, staring at you in the sun, honeyed heat in your eyes as you peek up at him through lush lashes. You slide your shorts down, cheeky purple bikini bottoms barely covering your ass, and then shuck your t shirt, revealing the matching top. It's skimpy, to say the least, velvet skin and curves on full display, full breasts and hips, soft belly all accentuated by the lilac hue of your bathing suit. Your cheeks swallow the stretchy fabric, and he thinks about hooking his fingers between them and digging it out. His cock hardens, nearly solid and aching for you. He's already in heaven, could believe he's died and reached some sort of twisted afterlife where he doesn't end up in purgatory, and he searches for the side of your bathing suit, tugging on the strap.
"C'mere mama." You read the husk in his voice, the heavy weight of his lids, and shake your head.
"I wanna swim," you're coy with your smile, fingers tucking into the waistband of his trunks, "take me swimming daddy."
The water is warm. He's almost resentful to it, wishing it was a little cooler, enough that you would cling to him more, searching for heat.
Still, he's not complaining. Watching you wade into the water and float with the rhythm of the sea, it's enrapturing. Intoxicating. Better than bourbon. You frolic in it, beaming, carefree and weightless, heaviness of motherhood left behind for a moment, a moment where you're just you... and he's just some poor sod who's never deserved you in the first place. You've piled your hair on top of your head, wet tendrils sticking to your neck, framing your face, shrieking and giggling each time your lifted from your feet with the crest of a wave.
Finally, you come to him. Wrap your legs around his waist and heave your arms onto his shoulder, smiling in the sun. Your skin is brine soaked and glistening, wet and slick in his hold, and as the ocean rolls the two of you together in its sway, he goes with it, using the motion to press himself against you. Everything about you is his undoing, every breath you draw filling him with life, the widening of your eyes as you feel the heft of his cock pulsing between your legs, the nervous glance you give the shore at the few people bathing in the sun. His fingers trace your belly and dip into the side of your suit, swirling down your slit and then pressing your clit. You gasp into his mouth, but the water washes away your natural desire, and he pulls away.
"Si..."
"There's a nook over there," he sucks a mark into your neck, licking at the taste of your skin, the droplets splashed across your shoulder, "it's sandy, and sheltered."
"Oh." Your eyes widen. "B-but there are people... on the beach."
"They won't see. Or hear. The ocean will drown it all out." You gnaw on your lip until he places his thumb there instead. "Y'trust me?"
"Yeah."
He lays you on your back in the sand. The rock arches up like a cathedral, hallowed ground, and he takes his time pulling your bathing suit away, tugging the bottoms down to your knees, tits falling free once he unstrings your top. They're too tempting, round and full, your head tipping back when his mouth closes over your nipple, warmth spilling across his tongue.
"Feel this?" He unfolds your hand and presses it against where he's hard in his trunks. "Feel how bad I want to be inside you, honey?"
"Fuck, y-yeah."
"You're gonna take it all for me mama. Jus' like last time." You nod frantically, and he takes a quick moment to strip, palming your thighs and then spreading them open.
You seize when he burns his face in your pussy, tongue circling around your clit, one finger, then two, working themselves inside, stretching, scissoring, trying to get you ready. You thrash and moan, shuddering when the orgasm rushes through your blood, legs closing around his head until he pulls away, still holding you wide.
His entry is gentle and slow. Fingers laced together above your, a holy crown like you deserve, kissing away the crinkles of discomfort around your eyes and even the tears trailing down your cheeks.
"Jesus." You moan, and he glances down, breaking out in a full body shiver when he sees he's barely halfway there. He remembers how it was the first time, in your bed, in the moonlight, the way you strangled him, shoved him into his orgasm far before he was ready, and though your body has changed from having his baby, you've never been more beautiful, and never felt so good. "Big, Si," your brow creases, and you whimper, "you're too big-"
"Y'can take it. You were made for me." He presses against your belly as he sinks to the hilt and you mewl like the kitten you are, sweet in his arms, fingers clawed into his shoulders. His nose drags down your cheek, thrusting slowly, easy pressure stretching you out on his cock. "How's that feel?"
"F-fuck, it's... good, so good." Your lashes feather closed, and he shakes his head.
"Keep your eyes open, mama. Keep them on me." He has to see every refraction of light, every kaleidoscope of emotion and pleasure in your gaze, the overload between the two of you as he fucks you deep and fills you with come.
He wants to give you another baby so badly it burns, mark you, fill you, watch you grow heavy with his child, be there for it all this time-
But that’s not for tonight. Tonight is not about the claim. It’s about love. Showing, telling, promising. Branding vows into your skin, burying himself so deep your body never fits another, giving you his last name, keeping and loving you forever. More than a claim, even more than a promise. Something he’ll never walk away from. Someone he’d burn the world for, walk to hell and back, pulling you behind him, eyes fixed on the horizon.
His life, his past, drops like a stone to the bottom of the sea through his mind, every trial, every loss, all now serving a greater purpose, teaching a grander lesson, though no less painful. Love. Something that used to be so distant he hardly knew its name, and now it’s everywhere. The torture, the loss of his identity, his existence, even his name, all of it once lost, only to be found by you.
He’d rip his heart out and lay it at your feet if he could.
It’s slow. He’s never been particularly patient outside of work, but for you, he tries to make it last forever. Tastes each syllable of your moans and cries, paints your body with his sweat and spit. You yield for him, bloom for him, learn him the way he learns you, and as the two of you chase the end together, his face hovers just above yours, gentle fingers as a necklace under your neck.
“I love you.” He murmurs it, and your eyes shine. “I love you mama. You’re mine. Til death.”
At the precipice, the moment before the two of you shatter, your forehead meets his, you share his breath, his words, his life. It’s now yours too, intertwined like the dna stitched with yours, and when you come, the only words on your lips are a vow of your own.
“I love you too.”

Hi,
My name is Faten Al-Dahdouh from Gaza We are trapped between walls of fear, despair, and deep sorrow amidst the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip. We need the help of every person with a living conscience, a compassionate heart, and an understanding of humanity.
Who is Faten and her family?
I got married in 2000 and I am 42 years old. I have two daughters, Bara’a, 22, and Nada, 20. We all feel fear, deep sadness, and insecurity, suffering from severe psychological stress due to the relentless bombardment and destruction we have faced since the war on Gaza began. I owned a new apartment that was completed and ready for us to move into on October 1, 2023, just one week before the war. Unfortunately, my apartment was completely destroyed in the first week of the conflict.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
How has the war turned our lives into such extreme suffering?
My furnished apartment was completely destroyed. I bought it with furniture and appliances for about 70,000 Doller, which I lost entirely. We had no choice but to seek shelter in tents or rent a place. Both options are difficult. Life in tents is like living in the desert. The rental prices for houses are extremely high. In Gaza, there are no basic necessities for life, such as clean water, complete food, cooking gas, electricity, or sufficient medicine. Even the price of candles is unbearable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My strong resolve is to stand firm and honor you
My apartment was our only home, which forced us to flee several times. Despite the harsh conditions and ongoing uncertainties surrounding us, I remain optimistic and determined to provide a better future for us. My spirit is unbreakable, but I need help from those with living consciences and compassionate hearts to overcome the obstacles we face.
How can you help me?
My family and I aspire to build a better future for our children, ensuring their safety and allowing us all to live a dignified life, feeling secure and stable, and living in peace. Help us achieve this dream through your generous donations, which will undoubtedly have a significant impact on saving us.
The funds raised will be used for:
• Rebuilding the destroyed home and purchasing the furniture and appliances necessary for daily living.
• Food and water, ensuring we have the essential supplies and medical care we need.
• Education, supporting my daughters' education by covering tuition, school supplies, and necessary needs.
Every contribution matters
No donation is too small; every contribution brings us one step closer to relief and a better future. Even if you cannot contribute financially, sharing this campaign with your generous network can make a significant difference.
Thank you for your generous donation and help.
Faten Al-Dahdouh
North Gaza.

Im addicted to found family dynamics. And the Deadpool and wolverine movie apparently.
A story I'm currently twirling in my brain is a little funky au thing but here's the explanation:
Set in the aftermath of Deadpool and wolverine. Major change is that much spiderman isn't there/it's different or it could be forgotten Peter if you want. What ever floats a boat. But my descriptions are not with that in mind? Idk.
Anyways. Wolvie ends up living with Deadpool and al, though he takes the couch most nights and has started working at a movie rental place of all things. He also side hustles at docks and stuff hefting boxes.
One day on his journey home he finds a kid who looks out of it just laying on a park bench. Kid smells like blood and a bit of sickness. He'd leave the guy alone if he didn't see the kid jump up immediately to help a lost little girl find her parents. Wolvie is nothing if not a softie.
Peter is struggling since the death of May and trying to care for himself. He is currently in a foster home but there's too many kids needing too much help so he slips through the cracks and keeps fighting crime, and going to school as best he can. Food is harder to come by and healing gets a lot slower. And so are his reaction times, which means more injurys
Logan bullies this kid into getting some food and then reluctantly let's him go. The next time he sees Peter, kid has a bruised eye and is holding his arm weird. Still smells like blood and a bit more sick. Logan forces the kid to get more food and almost bullies Peter into following him home for medical supplies
Needless to say when he finds Peter passed out he just picks up the teen and drops him on the couch. Al curses Deadpool blinks and wolverine tries to scratch up some bandages which are in short supply because he and Deadpool don't need them
Something something something. Deadpool likes Peter and treats him like a nephew or a son that you haven't seen in ages. Al picks on him a little and warns him about all sorts of bad choices. Wolverine focuses on teaching the kid to scrap and not end up dead.
Deadpool fangirling when he finds out Peter is Spidey and then immediately getting serious and ready to go out and kill the kids villains. Wolverine already out the door to handle a few of them.
Idk family time and dynamics. Feel free to take this or build.

AirBnb aka Book A Room In Your Heart
Trent's ex-wife has just left the country, her work as an embedded journalist once more calling her away, leaving Trent with an ever-present fear for her safety and full custody of their four year old daughter.
It's not the best timing, if he's honest. It comes hot on the heels of Trent leaving his job in a fit of pique and moral outrage at being asked to do an expose on a footballers health with private medical information being leaked by, Trent suspects, the owner of Richmond himself. Anything to draw attention from his messy, bitter divorce. Coping with leaving the career he worked for since he was a child, and a young daughter missing her mother...it's a struggle.
Unsure of how to proceed, but needing someting more than his old job, something deeper, and frankly needing cash in the meantime, Trent figures he can take in a lodger while he figures his shit out. Within hours of putting his spare room up on AirBnB for a long term rental, it's conditionally booked. With his daughter in the home, Trent has stringent rules about who he'd allow in the home, and an email arrived shortly after with a full police background check on one Theodore Lasso, along with all pertinent certification allowing him to work and interact with children, not to mention three glowing personal references.
He seems perfect. Well, perhaps not perfect. His emails are a little...odd, full of hokey charm and off-topic stories, but the man already had a job waiting in London, and just needed somewhere to stay while he set up his new life thousands of miles away from home. Trent figured the American would barely be in the house between his work and hunting for a proper home and so he accepts the booking, imagining just who this Theodore Lasso might be based off the messages they're exchanged, and what he could glean from the references. The man standing on his doorstep with a backpack and a duffle that seemed to be all he'd brought with him of a past life...well, he's not remotely what Trent had imagined.
Ted is hokey, but he's also disarmingly honest, long-winded but earnest, gentle and genuine. He has a pop-culture knowledge that rivals Trent's own, an exhaustive supply of rhymes and the sort of looks that have always turned Trent's head.
To make matters worse, Ted has the absolute impertinence to be good with Trent's daughter, who is understandably in a funk because her mother is away. Ted includes her when he bakes, setting her up with her own little apron and small utensils, getting all flustered and apologetic that he might have overstepped, while in fact Trent is a)about to jump him b) hasn't seen his daughter this engaged and happy in weeks and, most distractingly c) ABOUT TO JUMP HIM.
The audacity of the man to stand there with his sleeves rolled up and flour in his hair, making Trent's flat smell like vanilla and butter and childhood, while he and Trent's little girl sing absolute nonsense ....
Suffice to say, Trent is not God's strongest soldier. The Lord is testing him and he has not studied. Ted is a man in need of a home, much like Trent. A man searching for a new life like Trent, and a way to fill the aching hole left in him by loss and time and grief.
And Trent? He might well get caught up in the whirlwind

Want to Help Punish Ron DeSantis?
Boycott some of these Florida-based businesses!
Some notable examples:
Tourism (Disney World, Universal Orlando, Busch Gardens, etc)
Bealls Outlet Stores
Bloomin' Brands Restaurants (Outback Steakhouse, Carrabba's Italian Grill, others)
Checkers/Rally's
Chewy Inc. (online pet retailer)
Darden Restaurants (Olive Garden, Longhorn Steakhouse, others)

There are others, and some of these are more common in the southeastern USA (notably Publix & Winn Dixie), but if you can avoid buying from these brands, please consider doing so!
DISCLAIMER: The key words are IF you CAN avoid. Please don't feel guilty if there are necessities that you can only get from certain businesses, like pet medications through Chewy, or the only grocery store in reasonable distance happens to be Publix.
EDIT 06/02/2023:
Back in 2015, the Tampa Bay Rays were one of three pro sports teams (the others being the San Francisco Giants and New England Patriots) to sign an amicus brief in support of same-sex marriage.
If you want to support a FL sports team, that's your go-to!

so since today is my day off and i didn't (key word here) have anything pressing until this afternoon, i was planning on taking the poodle puppy to the vet to get his annual shots. he's due and he's the only dog that actually goes anywhere where there are strange dogs because he needs to be groomed, so this is for the health and safety of all five dogs and the cat. my mom comes home from the hospital tomorrow, and i'm not sure when i'll be able to leave her alone to take him in, so today was perfect. except that some guy has to deliver oxygen today.
rant under the cut
now i need y'all to understand that my mother has NEVER needed oxygen. she didn't need it until last week when her allergies were so bad she woke up choking on mucus, and her oxygen levels dropped and scared the nurses so they put her on oxygen, and now they can't seem to be able to wean her off of it. mind you, apparently "weaning" to these people is taking her off of it entirely and then making her stand for like ten minutes. she's been in inpatient physical therapy for a week and a half because the fucking hospital didn't get her out of bed for two fucking weeks after her emergency surgery and now she can't fucking walk, and standing for long periods of time was already difficult for her because of her back before the hospital, so they might as well have had her running down the fucking hall. yeah okay that's fucking genius, she's been on oxygen for like four days nonstop and y'all decide that "weaning" means taking it off entirely and making her do something strenuous for her. awesome. y'all are fucking stupid as shit, but okay. so naturally, she couldn't breathe when they took her off it so the doctor decided she needs oxygen. cool.
so back to homie bringing the fucking oxygen today. me and my dad have to go pick up a rental car for tomorrow because, again, these people fucking broke my mom and now she can't get into the truck. we have to pick it up at five. "oh don't worry i'll be there in the morning!" my dear friends, it is 1:30 pm and he still isn't fucking here. i have been sitting here doing FUCK ALL since 9:30, WHEN I WAS PLANNING ON TAKING THE DOG TO THE VET THAT IS AN HOUR AWAY FROM MY HOUSE, waiting for Jimothy The Medical Supply Guy(tm) to bring oxygen my mother NEVER FUCKING NEEDED BEFORE THIS FUCKING ORDEAL. i have done NOTHING but stress out on my fucking day off from work because nobody on earth gives a single flying fuck about anybody but themselves. "oh we're here to make the lives of the family easier and more convenient!" my lily white fucking ass. if y'all hear a news story about a hospital in north texas [redacted] in the next week then expect a fucking hiatus i fucking guess (for legal reasons this is a joke...)

20: Breaking Point
It's only November, yet the local stores have swapped their Halloween decorations for the traditional, garish reds and greens of Christmas, for it promises to be a good one. With the pandemic restrictions lifted, rationing rumored to relax in early December and the anniversary of the Great War's conclusion on the horizon, even non-Christian communities are filled with seasonal cheer, leaving New York revitalized, rejuvenated and more proud to be American than ever, even as winter rapidly descends upon the city.
Its residents drawn into an icy grip of freezing rain, sleet and an unerring frost that licks the window panes, Mordecai can at least afford to heat his home properly this year. He burns kindling and coal almost constantly when at home, and his landlady often enters to light his hearth before bed to ensure the apartment is not freezing when he returns. In exchange for that simple kindness, he buys the widower a steady supply of coal, ensuring her pension goes on sustenance and essential fabrics rather than just staying alive.
Kosher meat is more readily available once more, allowing Mordecai to reintroduce some much needed variety into his diet. While still rationed for the time being, a little chicken in his soup makes a world of difference. It adds flavour, texture and additional proteins that allow the tuxedo to regain some of the body mass he lost during the Great War. It also adds to his family's diet, ensuring his mother is as healthy as can be as the weather changes and exacerbates her cough.
Regarding his family and restoring relations, it's a tentative process certainly, but they've made steady progress. Esther and Rose adjusted to his return almost immediately, pulling him back into the comforting rituals of Sunday afternoons in an instant. He spends much of his time being shown Rose's newest sketches - which move from animals, to delicately sketched cityscapes and countryside from their father's old books - or helping Esther with chores around the house as mother rests, the morning service having exhausted her.
Reconnecting with his mother is more difficult. While she's obviously happy to have Mordecai back in their lives, former affections return slowly. It takes months to tease more than single word answers from her, numerous more to move from formal discussion to easier conversation. It was the evening she suggested he lead hamotzi he'd finally felt forgiven, an honour he'd willingly split with Esther from that night on. It's also a relief his mother never mentions returning to Temple or speaks of Nataliya, leaving his associating with the synagogue firmly in the past for their present relationship.
Unfortunately, his Mother's health declines as the seasons change; occasional coughing fits become asthmatic attacks, wheezing and persistent malaise that makes housework or cooking almost impossible to maintain. With an unrelenting schedule, Mordecai relies on Esther in particular to keep the house clean, food on the table and accompany their mother to her copious appointments, feeding back the results as he assists with dinner clean-up every Sabbath.
Regardless of the specialist or tests, the outcomes remains consistent; take medications as prescribed, keep the house clean and when possible, move to a quieter suburb.
The constant re-administering of old advice - coupled with a mounting list of ineffectual yet expensive medications - is an exasperating experience for the entire family, but none more than Mordecai. Moving his family to better housing was the main motivation for a foray into the criminal underworld. Yet nine years later, he has a delightful apartment while they fester in rental purgatory, an incessant onslaught of medical bills constantly chipping away at his hard work until he has to add another month to their intended moving date.
He and Esther talk for hours after Mother and Rose go to sleep, discussing potential short term reparations for their situation. Their landlord won't fix the drafts or the broken kitchen window, an act of unsolved vandalism during the Great War, so they've taped newspaper and cardboard over the hole to act as an insulator. They've similarly insulated leaking window frames with paper, hung up dense curtains donated by a kind Temple member for heat retention, and now keep a window situated at each end of the house barely cracked at all times for fresh air ventilation.
Unable to afford a professional chimney sweep, Mordecai had stripped to his vest and boxers and attempted to clear out the chimney with a broom handle topped with a damp cloth. The mess was immense; a white muzzle ended up indistinguishable from black fur, while his undergarments were so badly stained, they were still gray after four washes and had to be thrown out. The throwback from their next fire was definitely reduced however, well worth a pair of boxers and a vest, when their mother could breathe easier.
After noticing the abundance of mold under the window in his mother's bedroom bringing her some tea a few months prior, he began to dedicate an hour each week to removing the mold in every bedroom, before moving on to the worst offender in the house, the bathroom. The first time he scrubbed it clear of mold, his hands were raw and bloody. He'd gotten lectured by both Esther and his mother into investing in rubber marigolds, which have certainly saved his poor paws from further damage, even if he hates how they feel on his bare hands.
Despite these efforts, his mother's cough moves closer to a suffocating moistness that choked his youngest sister on the stairs that awful night. Esther notices too; when cleaning up tjegtehr, they share a worried glance across the kitchen before glancing at the ceiling, ears straining to hear her wheezing breaths afterwards, seeking reassurance their mother remains alive for another week.
Returning home, Mordecai always counts his savings again each Sunday, willing eighteen months to pass in earnest.
While loath to admit it even to himself, the unerring forward march of her illness has resulted in some unprofessionalism on Mordecai's part. He's short with his own employees, quick to become irritable in adverse conditions, and even less forgiving with the unlucky souls on the receiving end of interrogation. More than once, he's foregone any calculated discussion entirely for physical torture in a quest for swiftee conclusions, the job remaining in his least favourite line of work under Mr Savage's leadership.
Life continues on mostly according to plan though, until just two days before his twenty-first birthday, when Mordecai jolts awake to a banging on his apartment door.
"One moment," he mumbles too softly for anyone to hear, then scrabbles on his bedside table to switch on the lamp. Retrieving his pocket watch, he pops it open and squints at the face a long moment before realizing he can't see without his glass. "Briln," he grumbles to himself, clumsily picks the eyeglasses up and sets them on his muzzle. He then peers at the time with bleary eyes, tilting his head to avoid the awful fingerprints he's just left on the glass to read the face.
3:17am. Mordecai groans and presses his face into a pillow, making his pince-nez wonky in its feathery softness as his arm falls to the mattress beside him. He's been in bed for a few hours, likely only asleep for one and a half. Certainly not long enough to be summoned from slumber and tempted to ignore them and roll back over, it's their desperate nature to eventually encourage the man, begrudgingly, to his feet.
The disheveled tom pulls his robe over striped pajamas and steps into worn slippers, then causally stifles a yawn into a fist while retrieving the Colt from his shoulder holster. Gun in hand, he approaches the door and opens it without thought, the gun hanging at his side more habit than a careful plan. If anyone wanted him dead in that moment, he'd have been a sitting duck in his robe and nightclothes that Sunday night
As luck would have it, there is no threat waiting on the other side of the door, yet it's somehow immeasurably worse to be faced not with a disgruntled, bankrupt client but Rose in just her nightdress and a thin robe, tears staining her cheeks in fresh streaks and body shaking almost violently. The sight is enough to wake Mordecai up entirely, though before a query can leave his lips, Rose has thrown her arms around him and buried her face in his pajama shirt, sobbing hot tears into the fabric without remorse.
Mordecai stands awkwardly, eyes wide and confused, Colt still hanging uselessly at his side while Rose squeezes him tight enough to knock the breath from his lungs. She should not be walking the streets of New York alone at all, let alone at night. She's hardly dressed for the weather, as if she just grabbed the nearest pair of boots and ran soon after waking up, unruly curls escaping from the dual braids uses to keep it from becoming tangled during sleep.
Her attire is as bewildering as her presence, however after a number of seconds have passed, his familial instincts finally return. Bringing the hand holding the gun to rest against her lower back, Mordedai places his other hand on her head in an attempt at reassurance and comfort. It seems effective, as her tears redouble into his shirt, her arms so unnaturally cold to the touch through the thin fabric it makes him frown.
Only then does he finally look up and notice his Mrs Kovitz, his downstairs neighbour and landlady, also standing in the hallway. The elderly woman leans against a wall for support, her face smothered in anti wrinkle cream and frame almost skeletal thanks to the stress of losing both her husband and a son in the war, her palm beneath the opposite elbow to steady her hand as she puffs on a cigarette.
*She say sumzing about motzher going into 'ospital," the elderly woman states between tokes. Her frilly nightgown is like a sea of white on her small frame, making her seem like she doesn't have feet. "I zink it best let her up to speak."
"I appreciate the forethought, Mrs Kovitz," the monochrome tom offers with obvious sincerity on a usually stoic muzzle. He glances down at Rose for a moment, gently stroking the back of her head as she begins to quiet down, before olive eyes rise to meet pale yellows. "Anything with which you require assistance, I would be most-"
She interrupts him with a shoo motion from both hands. "Go be wiv family, narr," she instructs with a sad smile, tired eyes moving to the sniffing girl pressed to his chest. It's her favourite thing to call her peculiar upstairs neighbour, when the man fixates on unimportant things, an affectionate term, even if it sounds somewhat cruel; jester. Mrs Kovitz motions to the girl she hasn't met before. "Time for being man of family, not pester old woman wiv help."
Mordecai nods gratefully before ushering Rose inside, her freezing hands a sure sign her shivering is not just from the expression of intense emotions. She needs a cup of tea to sip while Mordecai finds something suitably warm to pull on over her robe, then they'll go to the hospital together. Until they talk to a professional, Mordecai can only hope there's still something that can be done for his mother's poor health.
oOoOo
Even at six in the morning, the hospital still bustles; around slumbering patients and anxious relatives, nurses move in and out of wards fluidly, taking vitals and checking on their most vulnerable patients with admirable efficiency. Mordecai watches them silently from his chair beside his mother's bed once her cough has been brought under control. Hours flow past for while she and his sisters slumber, he cannot relax. There's no time for rest, not when he has new calculations and risk assessments to run regarding his savings plan.
He reclines in the armchair and stares at the ceiling, fingers entwined in his lap atop a white fedora. With just months left before saving enough to buy them a house, the sudden decline in their mother's health is a kick in the teeth. Doctors expect her to be discharged in three weeks and determined she won't return to a home that's slowly killing her, the time frame for success has significantly reduced to a mere tenth.
This comes with its own slew of problems; there's no way Savage won't notice if Mordecai starts scraping more than one percent off each business under his management. The numbers are simply too high to disguise as unexpected bills or degraded stock, yet Mordecai remains aware his current scheme can't earn the remaining funds in just three weeks, not unless he can exponentially grow his customer base in each consecutive week, unlikely in a post-war climate.
A low wheeze drawing his attention, Mordecai sits up and observes his mother carefully as she struggles to catch her breath, even at rest. The episode thankfully passes just as swiftly as it came when she rolls onto her side, but it's enough to convince Mordecai of his next move; temporarily increasing his embezzlement margins to three percent, and hope he can disguise it well enough to avoid the deception being uncovered.
It's a huge risk, but just two weeks of triple earnings is all he needs to ensure once his mother is discharged, she and his sisters can move into a new home. One without black mold under the windows. I can remain undetected for a fortnight. I have to, for mother's sake.

SQUEAK SPEAK
Monthly newsletter for Dooks of Earl Ferret Sanctuary Inc
Happy April and Greetings to Everyone!
Much excitement at our little rescue this month and I can't wait to tell you.
Thanks to my income tax check coming in our fundraising goal for between now and May 1st is only $768.00
That will cover
The rescues regular bills like; utilities ($280 on average since our HVAC is still out, but we are hoping someone is coming to fix it soon), and pet foods ($488). I have managed to raise enough to cover the other bills and supplies from my income tax check. And of course, none of this is for me personally nor do I get paid for the work I do. It's not about me, it's about these animals and making their lives amazing for however long they have left.
Other needs that the rescue has not included in this list are:
As always, Pine pellets from Tractor Supply Company, we go through about 30 bags a month.
The blue dishes we got last time will be added back to our list because they are working so well for our sweet seniors and tiny ferrets in helping them eat in a more natural position.
We still have a short wishlist with links to these items on Amazon. The pine pellets I just listed tractor supply gift cards because they don't sell the pellets through Amazon for delivery.
https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/dl/invite/63ZMinE?ref_=wl_share
I also want to remind everyone that you can pick us as your Walmart.com round up charity and that you can send gifts from our Walmart registry and Chewy Registry if you'd like.

https://www.chewy.com/g/dooks-of-earl-ferret-sanctuary-inc_b103217538
We still need fence panels for an outdoor dog kennel yard if anyone has any locally they'd like to drop off. And if you are throwing out any 13 gallon kitchen trash cans or plastic bins of any size we would be thrilled to have them.
We currently have 11 ferrets in amazing foster homes so our population here is becoming very manageable for me AND we have 4 new volunteers!!!!! We are so happy to welcome Michael, his wife, and his mom to our team. They will be coming soon to help me get things back to tip top shape and I greatly appreciate it.
And an amazing girl named Michal who came yesterday and spent the day helping me. The ferrets were crazy about her and you know Keiko was too. The bunnies warmed right up to her but they are very friendly girls. Mr Maru gave her the tour till his house was finished then he had to go see what I had done and grab snacks. Cal the sugar glider, slept through it all. But what delighted me most was Mr. Spooky. Our shy, bite first ask questions later guy, went right to her and cuddled her. WOW He is still having a hard time with Justin not being here. Ferrets grieve just like us and he was really close to his dad the Ferret King. He gave me kisses and now this. It makes me so excited and emotional for him.
There was a minor set back for me medically as I have a new allergy, possibly to Stevia. Of course I try to do something good for my health and now I look like I have rolled in bees. If you don't know, this is not a surprise. Lol But I got some medicine for the hives and hopefully will be feeling much better very soon. Until then if you see me dancing against the doorway like a bear, just walk away. 😂
I'm through infusion 3 of 8. YAY! And I have a surgery consultation coming up finally so I am hopeful that it goes well and we can get a date for surgery. 🤞
I have a potential part time job as a virtual assistant and I am truly excited about that. And we are looking at setting up the trailer for a rental so that I can generate a little income and start paying off old debt and getting back on my feet again.
The three month anniversary of losing Justin was really hard on me but I want to thank everyone for their abounding kindness and support. Some days you and these rescue babies are all that gets me through to the next day. I am so grateful to have you in my life.
I also want to mention if you don't get a thank you note and receipt for your donation or some sort of confirmation, please check with me to make sure we received it. I always send a thank you note if it lets me and if you use cashapp I send a heart.
You are awesome and amazing and greatly appreciated. I could not do what I do if you weren't here supporting us and cheering me on. I hope the blessing that you are comes back to you ten fold. Have an amazing month!

Types of Hospital Beds Available for Rental: Finding the Right Fit
Are you or a loved one in need of a hospital bed for a short-term recovery or medical condition?
Hospital bed rental in Denver can be a practical and cost-effective solution. With a wide range of options available, it's important to understand the types of hospital beds and their features to find the right fit for your specific needs.
In this article, we will explore the different types of hospital beds available for rental, providing you with valuable insights to make an informed decision.
Tumblr media
Types of Hospital Beds for Rent
Hospital beds are designed to provide optimal comfort and support to individuals who are recovering from surgery, managing a chronic illness, or having mobility challenges. When renting a hospital bed, you have various options to choose from, each offering unique features to address specific needs.
Standard Hospital Beds
Standard hospital beds are the most commonly rented beds. They offer adjustable height, allowing caregivers to raise or lower the bed to a comfortable position. These beds also have adjustable side rails for added safety. Standard hospital beds typically come with a mattress and may have features like built-in head and foot adjustments.
Low Hospital Beds
Low hospital beds, also known as "floor-level" beds, are designed for individuals at risk of falling from a higher bed position. These beds are closer to the ground, reducing the risk of injuries from falls. Low hospital beds are ideal for patients with limited mobility or those prone to getting out of bed unassisted.
Bariatric Hospital Beds
Bariatric hospital beds are specially designed for individuals who require extra weight capacity and support. These beds have a higher weight capacity than standard beds, providing enhanced comfort and safety for heavier individuals. Bariatric hospital beds often come with wider mattresses and reinforced frames to accommodate larger patients.
Air Mattress Beds
Air mattress beds are available for hospital bed rental in Denver and are designed to prevent pressure ulcers and provide advanced pressure redistribution. These beds use alternating air cells that inflate and deflate in a cyclical pattern, promoting blood circulation and reducing the risk of bedsores. Air mattress beds are highly beneficial for individuals with limited mobility or those who spend extended periods in bed.
Pediatric Hospital Beds
Pediatric hospital beds are specifically designed for children. These beds feature adjustable heights, side rails, and specialized mattress options suitable for the unique needs of young patients. Pediatric hospital beds ensure the safety, comfort, and proper positioning of children during their hospital stay.
Adjustable Beds
Adjustable beds offer customized positioning options to maximize comfort. These beds have motorized mechanisms that allow users to adjust the head, foot, and overall elevation of the bed. Adjustable beds are beneficial for individuals with specific medical conditions or those who prefer different sleeping positions.
Trendelenburg Beds
Trendelenburg beds are designed to position the body at an incline with the head lower than the feet. This position is often recommended for patients with circulatory issues or specific medical conditions. Trendelenburg beds can enhance blood flow and provide relief for individuals with certain health concerns.
ICU Beds
ICU beds, also known as intensive care unit beds, are designed to meet the needs of critically ill patients. These beds offer advanced features such as built-in monitoring systems, electronic controls, and specialized mattresses for optimal patient care. ICU beds provide superior functionality and support for patients requiring intensive medical attention.
Final Thoughts
Hospital bed rental in Denver can greatly improve the comfort and well-being of individuals during recovery or managing a medical condition. By understanding the different types of hospital beds available for rental, such as standard beds, low beds, bariatric beds, air mattress beds, pediatric beds, adjustable beds, Trendelenburg beds, and ICU beds, you can find the perfect fit for your specific needs. Consider consulting with healthcare professionals or rental providers to ensure you make the best choice for your situation.

The Preacher's Wife Series: Escape (Part I)
Tumblr media
TW: Domestic spousal abuse: emotional, mental, physical, and sexual
Hank’s in love.
Again.
It’s too soon, the wounds from the previous relationship still fresh, still stinging. But he thinks back to feeling Maggie pressed to his side, her hand in his, her head resting against his shoulder. It was one of the only times that he actually followed the speed limit back to her rental, trying to draw out the time. He can’t get it out of my mind just how perfect everything had been. He certainly doesn’t believe in romantic nonsense like soulmates but the feeling of watching Maggie walk into the cabin by herself was like watching a piece of himself go with her.
Maybe he is starting to believe in soulmates.
Either way, the problem remains of her husband and the process of getting her and the two children out of that mansion in La Jolla. He can’t contact Maggie directly so he approaches the next best thing, Maggie’s sister, Stitches. She’s been the medic for a couple years now and hasn’t mentioned anything specific about Maggie and her marriage. She’s hinted at being concerned for Maggie, always excited for Maggie’s visits to Santo Padre. But never has she brought up to the club a fear for her sister’s safety.
Stitches is organizing her medical supplies in the treatment room in the clubhouse when Hank finally tracks her down. He’s only been back from Big Bear Lake for two hours and he can’t shake the conversation he had just earlier today in the truck with Maggie. He raps lightly on the open door.
“Stitch, you got a minute?”
“Yeah, absolutely.” She stands up and immediately starts scanning him, looking for any injuries.
“I’m fine,” he waves her off. “I, uh, I actually wanted to talk to you about your sister, Maggie.”
Concern immediately clouds her face. “Maggie? What’s going on with Maggie?”
“I ran into her, up at Big Bear Lake.”
Stitches’ concern dissipates immediately and she breaks into a big smile. “Oh yeah, she was heading up there for a conference.”
Hank smirked. “Conference.”
“Ah,” Stitches leans against the exam table. “So she told you about her other ‘job.’”
“She did. My mom likes reading her books.”
Stitches’ grin gets wider. “I’m sure the next time she’s visiting, we can stop by and see your mom if you want. It’ll do Maggie good, finding people who enjoy her books. She doesn’t get to have that satisfaction too much.”
Hank smiles at that but then gets to the real reason for his visit. “Has Maggie ever said anything about how her husband treats her?”
All positivity drains from her face. “I know he’s an asshole. Emotionally manipulative and a bully. I’ve been stashing money and family heirlooms for her in preparation for her to leave but she keeps telling me the timing isn’t right yet. Her publisher is also holding on to her royalties as well. Why?”
“She just said a few things that concerned me. Wanted to get a clearer picture from you.”
Stitches’ mouth is a firm, tense line. “What things?”
The words are so bitter on his tongue when he says them. “I think he’s hitting her.”
“That son of a bitch.”
She starts to move past him but he puts out a hand and catches her shoulder. The explosion is expected and he is prepared for it thankfully. “Now hold on. You know if that’s true, we do have to wait on her.”
“Dammit, I know.”  She emits a frustrated noise and kicks the small trash can. “Shit. I had no idea he was hitting her or that it was even a possibility. He’s so focused on goddam appearances I didn’t think he would do that.”
“It seemed like she let it slip when we were talking. She said it was never anything to go see about at a hospital or ER. I don’t think anyone knows.”
“Course not. Simon Peters needs to keep his reputation clean or he could lose that money machine of a church. Can’t have a wife sporting bruises and casts…” Stitches pauses in her rant, her eyes going wide. “Oh my God. Her foot.”
“She mentioned breaking it but didn’t say how.”
Stitches returns to pacing the small room, her face thunderous. “I knew it. I knew Simon had something to do with her broken foot. The bones on the top of her foot were just snapped. She had to have metal pins and plates in there to fix it. She said her foot got caught under a box and she lost balance and fell backwards. It sounded fishy to me but she assured me that’s all it was.”
Hank feels that sick feeling settling in his stomach. “What did it look like to you?”
“It looked like someone stood on her foot and pushed her backwards, that’s what the breaks looked like.” Stitches lets out another sound of anger. “Six years! Six years, she’s been stuck in that house with that asshole! And I didn’t…” her eyes flood with tears and she covers her face with her hands. “I didn’t know, Hank. God, I didn’t know.”
“What the hell is going on in here?” Bishop appears in the doorway.
Tears are still streaming down her face and gives both Hank and Bishop the most helpless look. “My sister needs help.”
Bishop turns to Hank. “What kind of help?”
Taza appears at Bishop’s shoulder, peering into the room. “What’s going on?”
“Stitches’ sister needs help,” Bishop says.
Hank fills in the rest of the information. “Abusive husband.”
Bishop nods. “He armed? Security guards? What are we talking?”
“He’s the pastor of a megachurch,” Hank answers. “Lives in a mansion in La Jolla.”
“The kids,” Stitches says. “We need to get the two kids too.”
“Alright,” Taza puts his arm around Stitches’ shoulders. “We will. You talk to her, find out when would be a good time to get her and the kids out.”
“Safely,” Hank adds.
“Safely,” Bishop repeats. “In the meantime, if we have something coming up that needs attention, I’ll make sure at least three guys stay behind to help. You pick them. Okay?”
Stitches wipes her eyes with her sleeve. “Okay. But don’t you have to bring this to the table or take a vote in Templo or something?”
Bishop  glances at Hank and Taza, who give him minute nods, and he shakes his head. “No vote needed this time. Sometimes, we’re just all in agreement.”

Would just like to say that this storm in SoCal is the perfect example of incompetence.
Not from the community though.
It has now been 11 (eleven) days without snow plows. San Bernardino County is offering shelter and food at the local high school and other places but the people (including me and my family !) can't even get there because the roads aren't plowed.
The National Guard is supposedly up here but we haven't seen or heard any sign of them.
We've had one grocery store a town over have the entire roof collapse from the weight of the snow.
As a total, my area has gotten over 9 (NINE) feet of snow in just under two weeks.
Gas leaks have begun everywhere because the pipes are shifting from the snow. Two houses that I know of have burned (basically exploded) from gas leaking and the fire department can't get there in time, because the roads haven't been plowed.
The community has turned to help each other though, offering to shovel snow off of decks and roofs to prevent collapse, offering extra food, water, firewood, medicine, pet food. We can't get down the mountain because the roads haven't been plowed and those who are able to find a way down can't get back up.
People need medicine, food, water, heat. We had a diabetic just around the corner who ran a high fever and thankfully made it to the local hospital in time. An emergency CAT plow had to come, but it still took a long time for it to get through the snow. 911 is useless at the moment, they are two to three (2-3) days behind emergency requests. If you're in trouble, you're on your own.
In the meantime, the news is showing lovely helicopter footage of the pretty snow covered mountains (I'm tired of hearing helicopters overhead every 15 min) and San Bernardino County is patting themselves on the back during press conferences saying how good of a job people are doing to help with relief. They have done NOTHING. And the sheriff (who doesn't have jurisdiction over this issue) is trying to deny the hospital helicopter from taking off and landing up in the mountains because there "is too much air travel so it would be dangerous to have this helicopter in the air" but all of the news helicopters doing nothing are perfectly fine. That helicopter has saved lots of lives so far and is the only way down the mountain for those in desperate medical need.
There have been unprecedented avalanches in nearby mountain communities. Forest falls, just below Big Bear, has no water. An avalanche took their water tower out.
The mountain communities need plows. Yes, food and water and shelter are nice in theory, but get us PLOWS. If people can get down the mountain and around town to help others, that would be the best way to get through this.
My family has enough food and heat, thankfully. But we only planned for 2 weeks when we heard of the storm. It's been 11 (ELEVEN) days. The only news we've heard of a plow coming is within 1-2 weeks at minimum. We might run out of dog food, cat food, firewood. And what about other people who didn't stock up or didn't have the money to stock up? What about short time rental users who excepted to be up here for a few days and are stranded without supplies?
Get the mountain communities plows.
